Ingredient highlight: ~Bentonite Clay~
One of our key ingredients! Bentonite clay acts as 1/2 of our main base of our “9 Day Gut Cleanse”
It is common for some people to get hesitant with ingesting clay as a cleansing tool instead of topically because they think it will clog them up and make them constipated, but in fact bentonite clay does the opposite and actually brings constipation relief!
Bentonite clay is a type of absorbent aluminum phyllosilicate clay, primarily sourced from Fort Benton, Wyoming, hence its name. It's unique for its ability to absorb negatively charged toxins, this allows it to pull out toxins from your system. The clay forms from volcanic ash and contains various natural minerals such as calcium, magnesium, and iron. Besides Fort Benton, it can also be found in regions where volcanic ash has settled into the ground. Bentonite clay is similar to Montmorillonite clay, which originates from Montmorillon in France.
Bentonite clay has been used as a natural remedy for centuries due to its ability to detoxify the body and improve digestive health. When used internally the clay's mechanism involves binding to toxins in the gut and aiding in their elimination from the body, therefore great for cleansing our system and it can be particularly useful for people with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) studies have shown. In addition to aiding digestion and constipation relief, the clay may help improve the skin tone and is frequently used in skin care products to draw out oils and reduce acne. Your typical face mask will likely have bentonite clay in it.
Bentonite clay's use in health dates back centuries. Greek philosopher Aristotle wrote about people consuming clay for wellness in 300 BC, and by 60 BC, Rome saw its use in skin treatments. Evidence of clay consumption even appears in pre- Columbian societies, with a 2,500-year-old pot discovered in Chiripa, Bolivia. From ancient Mesopotamia to various indigenous cultures, the practice of using medicinal clay, often linked to geophagy, has had a global and enduring presence in health and medicine. The medicinal use of clay is carried on through the years and we strive to continue to act within our traditional ways. Using Bentonite Clay as a key ingredient in our cleanse is very intentional with traditional cleansing thats effective and easeful on the body.
