Coming Out Of The Cleanse

Updated: Aug 28, 2023

"I don't know where to begin on what to eat after the cleanse!"

At Hawaii Cleanse Co, we understand that each individual's body type and dietary needs are unique. Therefore, the process of breaking a fast after the cleanse will vary from person to person. While there is no one-size-fits-all guide, there is a general principle that holds true for everyone: opt for local, organic, and whole foods, as they provide the best nourishment for your body.

Breaking your fast requires careful consideration. Introducing the wrong type of food immediately can disrupt your system (Grains, Sweets, Fried food) Instead, focus on lighter options like raw fruits and vegetables. Transitioning directly to cooked foods may also be harsh for some, so keeping things simple and raw during the initial days is vital to maintain the harmony you've rebuilt within your body. Slowly ease your way back into cooked foods and your typical dietary routine.

Listening to your body's true needs, rather than mere cravings, is essential after a prolonged fast. As you come out of the nine-day cleanse, you might be tempted by various delicious treats. Stay steadfast and be intentional with your food choices, understanding your body's specific requirements.

Remember to start with small portions since your stomach may have adjusted to not eating during the cleanse. Trying one food item at a time (mono eating) allows you to gauge how your body reacts to each food and to see if you truly like it. You may find that some foods you once enjoyed no longer suit your system, while others are now better tolerated. It's advisable to wait a few days to a week before reintroducing foods that your body previously struggled with so your system has time to adjust to foods again.

For the first three days after the cleanse, this is what I will personally eat. You can consider incorporating the following foods into your diet as well: kraut, papaya, raw milk, raw cheese, raw liver, raw fish, and bone broth blended with eggs, apples, cucumber, and sprouts.

To ease your body back into the eating routine, consider using supplements. Digestive enzymes can aid in processing and digesting food more effectively. Probiotics help maintain and restore healthy gut flora after the system reset you underwent during the cleanse. Additionally, candida balancing supplements can play a role in supporting a healthy system.

Everyday health tips that are beneficial for all body types and diets:

  • Avoid seed/vegetable oils, such as canola, vegetable, corn, safflower, sunflower, cottonseed, soybean, rice bran, and peanut oil. Opt for organic grass-fed butter, ghee, tallow, lard, or unrefined and organic coconut, olive, or avocado oil as alternatives.

  • Minimize processed sugars and flours, opting for local honey, maple syrup, coconut sugar, or monk fruit, as well as organic unbleached flours or sourdough starters.

  • Source your meat, raw dairy, and eggs from local farmers, choosing grass-fed and grass-finished meat and pasture-raised chickens for both meat and eggs.

  • When wanting juice opt for fresh cold-pressed and organic juices, or even juice your own at home.

  • Consume probiotic-rich foods daily, such as sauerkraut, pickled vegetables, kimchi, cottage cheese, yogurt/skyr, kefir, miso, and kombucha.

  • Stay hydrated with mineral-rich water, such as fresh spring water or structured water. If these options are unavailable, filtered water with added minerals (e.g., a pinch of real salt with minerals, a drop of magnesium, a squeeze of lemon, or a splash of apple cider vinegar) will do the trick.

  • Prior to meals, enjoy herbal teas with digestion-aiding herbs to kickstart your digestive fire and enhance the digestion process.

These basic everyday tips will set you on a path to better health and wellness. We look forward to hearing how these practices have positively impacted your well-being. Your journey to optimal health begins here!
